Selecting Brass Hardware

I have spent the last few days researching brass hardware for our french doors and WIR cabinets. We have to find surface bolts that will tie in with the style of the door handles for our french doors. Our brass door handles have the beautiful curves of the Louis XV style and it has been almost impossible to find bolts that would match the graceful curves of the handles, without appearing too heavy or too 'try-hard'.

We found some beautiful bolts at Mother of Pearl and Sons Trading where we got out Brionne hardware for the kitchen from, but at $325 each, we do not have the budget to purchase 10 of these bolts. So I had to find an alternative.

Thankfully, I managed to find these bolts by Domino Brass at Adelaide Restoration Centre. They had the bolts on display which was great as I got to get a feel of the weight and the size of the bolts. At about $70 each, they are much better priced than the Brionne ones. It is a compromise that we will have to make.

A couple of week ago, I managed to find some brass door pulls for the doors in WIR on eBay. In an aged brass finish, they will tie in very well with the wall sconces. They arrived today and I am very pleased with the weight and feel of them. They are made by a brand in the USA called Decorlux, which is a brand developed and crafted by a group of master metalsmiths and hardware experts. The quality is quite impressive, even though the price was very reasonable. I'm very happy with the outcome.
