More Problems

The plumbers finished their work on Thursday rather late. We didn't have much light left to check their work. Hubby and I worked all day Friday and we noticed the leak first thing on Friday morning So it wasn't until early morning today that we finally got round to really inspecting every single ting that they've done. There were numerous problems. Firstly, the waste placement for the family bathroom WC appears to be further than what we specified in our plans to the plumber. Hubby thinks we might just make the margin with our Variobend we had purchased to be used with our Villeroy & Boch Subway WC but we won't know for sure until second fix plumbing. For now, it's a huge question mark. Then we discovered that the Hansgrohe iBox fo the family bathroom were not only not placed in line with each other, they were also not levelled in accordance to installation instructions. One was higher than the other, which makes absolutely no sense at all as they are obviously shower mixers that are meant to sit side by side. I don't think you needed a plumbing license to work that one out!

And still the issue of the floor-mounted tap outlets that are not in line with each other is worrying me. We mentioned this again to our builder, which he brushed off yet again, saying it can be fixed later.

And then there's this doozie - the water inlet for the WC toilet was marked on the wooden frame for the plumbers, as were the exact measurements which were given to them in our detailed plan. Stil, they managed to miss the marked spot with their installation.

Our builder was on site today so we brought all of these to his attention. He promised to have the problems fixed. So imagine our surprise when we returned home later in the day to find that he had adjusted the Hansgrohe iBoxes himself and had plastered all over the wall so it would have been a huge mess is they needed to be adjusted further. Thankfully, they were levelled and in line with each other. We were a little uncomfortable with the builder's actions though. It seemed that he was suspiciously rushing to cover up the cavity. The water inlet for the WC was easily adjusted so we were happy with that outcome.
My feeling of unease is gradually mounting. Our builder doesn't seem to show the diligence and attitude of someone who claims to be proud of his work. All these pkumbing problems that we have identified in the last few days would have turned into potentially huge problems if they were not rectified at this early stage. If we didn't check and point ouf these problems, could we then potentially end up with shower mixers that are not in line with each other, WC that can't be fitted due to incorrect placement of inlets or outlets? We feel that going forth, we cannot afford to leave any stone unturned and any detail unchecked.
