Goodbye Old Kitchen

Our kitchen is now all gone. It has gone to a good home, where it will live out its days, enjoyed by its new owner. A friend came by today for the last time with her dad, a huge trailer, and we spent the entire morning taking the kitchen apart. All the salvaged pieces were carefuly stacked on to the trailer, or wrapped in cloth. The kitchen feels really weird now. The fridge looks lonely and forlorn in its empty corner, the walls look bare and discoloured, with brickwork peeking through cracks and cervices.
I am a little melancholic, thinking of the history and years that will now be replaced by a brand new kitchen. There is also a slight frision of apprehension too. The renovations have really begun. We have set ourselves a budget for the renovation but I fear it will blow out. There is a bit of the fear of the unknown. We are stepping into unfamiliar territory, not knowing what to expect, what to do, it will be a huge learning curve ahead. Fingers crossed all this pain will be worth it in the end!
In anticipation of the craziness that will ensue in the coming months, we have decided to try to carve out a comfy space for ourselves in the guest room. The walls are all painted and I had a little play with some of the items we will be using in that room. Quite happy with the result. The only bummer is the wingback that I had originally planned to put in the corner does not fit the colour palette, which means we'll have to hunt for another armchair.
