My Current Obsession With Curtain Accessories

Curtain rod holders and their spikes

I have recently developed an obsession with collecting French curtain accessories. It seems crazy really as our curtains are a very long way from being measured, or made. I found some beautiful curtain rod holders and holdbacks recently on eBay. OK, I did get carried away and didn't do much research into finding out how they attach to the wall before I purchased them, but they are just unlike any convention curtain rod holders available on the market.

So I finally find out from a French seller tha the curtain rod holders require steel spikes that get hammered into the wall, to hold the curtain rods. The holders slip on top of the spikes to cover it. Too late, I realised that I don't have enough spikes for all the curtain rod holders I bought. I have been madly searching on French eBay but the correct size don't come around often. Oh dear... guess it's another thing to add to the list of things I need to do. This is a good lesson learnt - never be hasty in buying stuff and always do your research.

If I can't find the number of required spikes, we are going to have to look into getting someone to fabricate them for us. Yikes, that sounds expensive already. Hubby wasn't too impressed.

But, I do have 6 pairs of matching curtain rod holders for the french doors at the back so I really can't complain, can I? The rest will fall into place. That's what I keep telling myself anyway. In the meantime, I'll just have to keep trawling French eBay.

An idea of what the curtain rod holders would look like
