We Have Chairs!!!

When we purchased the dining table from Gary at Davenport Interiors, there were no chairs available to fit the dining table. We looked into getting some reproduction Louis XV chairs from Montique. But they were very pricey and lacked the character and charm of a true antique. We decided to be patient. Gary said that sets of 6 chairs do come around sometimes. It was a question of waiting for the right ones to come along. We had time on our side, so we waited patiently.

And then Gary called us last week, to tell us that he had a set of six french oak chairs that he believed would suit us. Hubby was quick to rush down to have a look over the weekend but I was working so I only managed to get down today.

The chairs are beautiful and in the exact style we are looking for. The lighter french oak can be easily stained to match the walnut of the dining table. It has graceful curves and cabriole legs. The frame is very sturdy and it is a handsome, well-made chair. There will be minor restoration and polishing work to be done, and of course reupholstery, but this set of chairs is perfect for us.

It was a no brainer really. I think hubby already made up his mind as soon as he set eyes on the chairs. So the deposit was paid and we now have to patiently wait for another set of six chairs in a similar, complementary style to come our way. But for 2 humans and a dog, six chairs will be more than sufficient for now.
