Our second shipment of brass wall sconces arrived from France today. After our first succesful purchase from an eBay seller, we decided to purchase an addtional 4 pairs of wall sconces from him. Two identical Louis XV pairs will go in the new extension area, the bathrooms will have a pair each, and there will probably be another pair in the WIR.
Laurent, who goes by Frenchcellar on eBay, is a collector of all things lighting. He has a warehouse full of chandeliers and sconces that he has collected over the years from around the Nord-Pas-Calais region. The sconces are electrified so they are from the early or middle part of the twentieth century. However, the french electrical wiring system is not the same as the Australian system. An earth wire will have to be installed with these sconces so we will have to take them to a qualified electrician for rewiring.

We are so happy with the quality of these pieces. They are made of solid brass and have good weight to them. The brass has a nice aged patina and the styling is just perfect. We could not have hoped to find similar pieces here in Australia, and most definitely not for the prices we paid for these pieces.
