We've noticed that our vision for the renovation has taken on a common theme in the form of the French style. I'm noticing that pieces that interest me are either in the Louis XV, sometimes XVI style, or in the more relaxed provincial style. It seems that what we envision for our the new space in our home has been inspired by what we loved most from our travels in France.

I decided to see if I could find lighting in the French style on French eBay. I had no idea how much they would cost, or how much shipping would cost, but we definitely could not afford the ones we've seen here at local antique stores.

I was surprised at the choices available on French eBay in comparison to normal eBay. The French have definitely opened up to the idea of selling and shipping internationally. There is a huge demand for original french items. However, these items will only come up in searches if you type in the correct French words. I found an Aladdin's cave of real, authentic French items on French eBay.

Still wary about buying an item based on photos and description, I decided to do a test run and purchased a pair of Louis XV brass wall sconces from a French seller. I received the item today and it is beautiful!!! Shipping was less than I expected, and the total price for the item including shipping was about a quarter of what you would pay for a similar item here in Australia, and that is if you manage to find one that's equal to this in quality and beauty.

This seller has many more sconces and lighting on eBay. Now that I know the quality of his items, I think we will be buying some more from him. I am really excited as the styling for our home is really beginning to take shape and the items we want to have in our home can be within budget if we look hard enough. I wonder what else I can find on eBay...
