It's Sale Time!

Bring on the post-Christmas sales!!!! It has become a bit of a tradition for my sister and I to take our mum to the post-Christmas sale on Boxing Day, and this year was no exception. In the last few years when we lived in Melbourne, we had to be up at the break of dawn to battle the crowds at Chadstone shopping centre. But this year in Adelaide, we had time to line our stomachs with a breakfast down at Rundle Street before heading down to Rundle Mall.

Hubby and I have been eyeing a particular dinnerware pattern at Villeroy & Boch for a few months now, aptly called French Garden. We particularly like the Fleurence and Valence pattern. It doesn't come in a set so each piece had to be purchased individually and the price was way out of our budget. Our initlal plan was to buy a couple of plates or bowls each month and eventually build up a full dinner set. The funny thing is when I took mum Christmas shopping a couple of weeks ago, I showed her the pattern that we were looking at.

So while hubby was busy trying on suits at David Jones, mum decided to head up to the homewares section to check out the specials. Ten minutes lates, a very excited mum came rushing down to us. The pattern that we were eyeing was on sale - at 50% off!!! We didn't believe mum and thought she might have been mistaken so we rushed up to the homewares section to check it out for ourselves. She was right. The entire range was at 50% off. We could not believe our luck. We spent over an hour checking through every single box they had in stock. We had to guard our boxes of purchases as there were other customers who tried to help themselves to our pile of goodies. We managed to accumulate close to 18 sets of dinnerware. The lady who was helping us was very helpful and suggested we look for the missing pieces at Myer or their other store at Burnside Village. After making almost a clean sweep at David Jones, we moved on to Myer to find the missing pieces we needed to complete our set. They also had the same pattern at 40% off. By the end of the day, we had 18 settings except for 2 pasta bowls. We placed the order for the two bowls to be delivered to Myer for us to pick up.

Post Christmas shopping

So after a full and exhausting day of shopping, we happily lugged our purchases home. I can't wait to use our beautiful new dinnerware in our new kitchen. I think they tie into the french provincial theme very well.
