Tile Hunting

I found this beautiful picture of french-patterned travertine floor tiles on the internet. It was as they say in French ' coup de foudre' or love at first sight. I adore the organic feel of the tiles, the variation in colour, and the rough unfilled and tumbled edges. To me, this floor is perfection!!! I showed hubby the photo and he loved it too. We thought we would try to source these tiles for our kitchen and extension area.
However, these tiles are impossible to find. We have tried every tile showroom that we can think of. Luckily for us, apparently they were featured on the block, so suppliers are starting to stock travertine now. Prior to that, I don't think many Australians even knew such a material existed. However, we cannot seem to find the tiles in the colour we are looking for, and in french pattern as well.
On a completely unrelated mission - searching for granite slabs in cream and gold galaxy, we spoke to Kingsley at Complete Marble & Granite. No they did not have the granite we wanted but that is a story for another day, but we also asked him if he knew any suppliers that stocked travertine floor tiles. He gave Tony at Taylored Stone a call and sent us down to see him.
Unfortunately he did not have any travertine tiles that suited us, but we found some beautiful crema marfil marble tiles that he was trying to clear out. We scored a bargain and suddenly we can fit tiling to the ceiling with marble tile for the ensuite in our budget. We are so happy and can't wait to see the finished bathroom. For now, we continue our hunt for those elusive travertine floor tiles...
